Reduce Well Integrity Risk

Risk Evaluation – Resolution – Enhancing Safety

Well Integrity Risk Assessment – Identification of Threats to Well Integrity Barriers

Threats to a Wells Integrity can come from many factors such as unexpected well instability, damage, or containment issues caused from corrosion, geomechanics forces, erosion, and mechanical component failure.

Assure can carry out a detailed Well Integrity risk review to ensure the associated risk assessments are comprehensive and effectively mitigate the risk of a barrier failure or have suitable monitoring in place so a timely decision can be made to shut the well in before failure can occur.

One of the current concerns in the oil and gas industry is the concept of well aging life extension (ALE) and predicting the remaining useful life (RUL) of the barriers to establish the premise for use of the well until projected Cease of Production (CoP).

By analysis of historical Well Integrity issues, change in well conditions / loadings and estimation of barrier deterioration, then a prognosis can be determined as to the likelihood of failure against the required well availability duration until the expected CoP.

Assure can review the well stock, identify and evaluate Well Integrity issues and recommend appropriate actions to be taken to mitigate and minimise risk.

Achieve Well Integrity Compliance

Verification – Continuous Improvement – Well Integrity Assured

Legislation and Compliance Verification by Audit

Policy and Corporate Standards alone are insufficient for effective Well Integrity Management; auditing is necessary to verify personnel involved in the operation of wells fully understand client standards, procedures, and emerging threats to minimise operational losses and maintain Well Integrity at all times.

Assure can also provide a compliance check against Regulatory requirements which can identify issues to be addressed prior to any Client or Regulatory inspection or audit.

Assure can review the clients Well Integrity Management Policies or Standards to identify areas where there are gaps in adherence to Regulations or industry best practice.

An effective gap analysis along with incorporation of client’s lessons learnt provide continuously improvement in Wel Integrity Management.

Assure have produced numerous Well Integrity Standards and Procedures for our clients that sets the clients requirements for Well Integrity Management aligned with regional, international and industry best practices.

Accurate well records are vital to understanding the installed casings, cementation, completion, wellhead and related well schematics.

Assure can review or recommend suitable Well Integrity data management systems that can provide access to key well documents and underpin the accurate assessment of Well Integrity issues and accuracy of reporting to internal and external stakeholders.

Enhance Well Operability

Well Surveillance – Continuous Improvement – Maximise Well Availability

Critical Wellhead Spares Review

To reduce the downtime of key production wells, Assure can review the current inventory of wellhead spare parts and assess their suitability or obsolescence and lead time of identified gaps.  This review ensures that sufficient critical spares can be accessed quickly for maintenance planning, minimises well downtime, and reduces overall stock levels.

Technical evaluation of the as built well operational limits and the accurate degradation of the operational limits based on a review of EOWR, FIT/LOT, cement bond logs, corrosion logs and casing inspection logs and changes in well chemistry against original well design.  This enables a MAASP to be calculated for the remaining life of the well.

Assure can analysis annulus pressure trends and behaviours to determine integrity issues early or recommend investigation techniques to better define the issue.

The review will also consider the current reporting formats when annuli are bled down or topped up and reporting of concerns, so that Well Integrity threats can be mitigated as early as possible.

The review will also consider the platforms cause and effects matrix and expected actions on activation of an annulus / process alarm and the related reaction time.

Training people in understanding well performance and threat indicators increases accountability, responsibility and individual competence.

A provision of knowledge based learning and practical time on a wellhead provides a comprehensive awareness of the criticality of Well Integrity management.
